Manufacturing
David began his career working on the manufacturing plant floor of a pharmaceutical company in February 2012. As a part of a leadership rotational program he trained in Lean Green Belt, applied Theory of Constraints, and learned that some of the most valuable knowledge is found with the operators.
David moved from the manufacturing floor to manufacturing support as a DeltaV automation engineer. He supported through troubleshooting batch and continuous automation, making quality minded interventions, and improving the controls configuration.
Automation
As David's career progressed, he worked as a contractor both in the Emerson network and independently. He has experience with long term projects, fast paced projects, and assisting onsite with immediate process improvements. He earned the title of Emerson Certified Field Service Engineer and has supported over 50 different sites.
David has worked in the life sciences, oil & gas, specialty chemical, pulp & paper, power generation, and combustion control industries.
Process Tuning
Process tuning has long been David's passion. With just a few parameter changes, the product quality and process efficiency are greatly impacted.
Having studied Chemical Engineering at UCLA, David enjoys learning the intricacies of processes and knows that understanding the process is key to properly working controls.
His mentors passed along the knowledge and skills that decades of field experience taught them. Emerson also certified David in Continuous Configuration & Implementation.
He has since worked independently to tune processes and train engineers. David founded Tune The Process LLC in 2022 to continue this work in the automation and controls community.
